Project Description

The airport required expansion due to rapidly growing passenger numbers. The development includes a new terminal facility and a second runway to accommodate increased traffic at this popular tourist destination.

Scope of Work

The new terminal represents an investment of $300 million with planned completion in 2012/2013. It will serve both international and domestic flights with an annual capacity of 7.5 million passengers across three levels covering 90,000 square meters.

Terminal Features:

  • 9 contact gates (5 single, 4 double passenger loading bridges)
  • 72 check-in counters plus out-gauge counter
  • 18 departure and 16 arrival passport control booths
  • 9 baggage claim carrousels and 6 outbound baggage systems
  • 5-level security control system

Argonaut's Awarded Scope

As Egypt's Systemair distributor, Argonaut supplied the ventilation system including exhaust fans, fresh air fans with carbon filters, kitchen ecology units, and transformer room axial exhaust fans.
